WEarlier this year, Man Cave Health had the honor of serving as the presenting sponsor of the prestigious Steve Spurrier First-Year Coach of the Year Award. While the evening celebrated some of college football’s most respected names, for us, it was also an opportunity to continue raising awareness around an issue that often gets overlooked: men’s health.
Partnering with Chris Doering Mortgage and JAG Agency, we were proud to be part of an event that holds significant meaning within the broader college football community. With Florida football legend and Man Cave Health Advisory Board Member Chris Doering hosting, our involvement helped establish a strong presence in Florida. This connection led to a PSA testing event at the UF vs. LSU game in November 2024 in collaboration with UF Health. Over 50 men were screened, and 10 percent showed elevated PSA levels, which is a clear reminder of the critical importance of early detection.
The night itself featured some unforgettable moments, including time spent with Clemson Head Coach Dabo Swinney, Notre Dame Head Coach Marcus Freeman, South Carolina Head Coach Shane Beamer, and Freshman Offensive Player of the Year quarterback LaNorris Sellers. We also celebrated this year’s award recipient, Fran Brown from Syracuse University, among other coaching greats like Frank Beamer and Gator Greats Jevon Kearse, Kevin Carter and Steve Spurrier. Being surrounded by people who care deeply about leadership and community made this evening even more meaningful.
“Being part of the Steve Spurrier Awards gives us an incredible platform to change the narrative around men’s health and bring life-saving education and screenings to those who need it most,” said Tom Milana, Chairman of Man Cave Health.
College coaches are often trusted voices for their players, their schools, and the communities that support them. “Our involvement here is about using that influence to save lives,” said Chris Masters, Executive Director of Man Cave Health.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to build on this year’s involvement. Plans are already forming for a larger testing presence this year, and in 2026, Man Cave Health is working towards hosting a fundraising golf event to continue supporting the cause.
We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who made this night possible. Your support helps us keep going, keep growing, and keep reaching more men with the message that early detection matters.
